Been very quiet recently. Too quiet but things picked up last week. I spent Tuesday morning moving from place to place to do a half hour show. I was working for a school holiday program who had their program spread across town so I did a show at each. Did the same show but with a different trick at each as a something extra. Good fun, god kids and great leaders. Special thanks to Liv for your right hand help!
On Saturday I was at Poppy's place for a circus themed party. We did tightrope walking, juggling, clowning, and plate spinning and then I wrapped things up with some magic. All good fun and once again nice kids. I also had big sister and her friend do some face painting which saved me some time. Face Painting is all good but it takes a while and is very one on one. I prefer to be entertaining everyone.

I was out in Mosgiel on Saturday to a Birthday for a 9 year old and her friends. Trinidy her friends are a nice group of kids. They were fun, got involved and I don't think it was just the chocolates that they liked. I have been working on a few new things but I decided to hold off until they are 100% ready to go. So I did some standard effects with a mixture of cards, Vanishing Bandanna, Can Surprise and silk scarf effect where I pulled off Granddads underwear-ops. I also performed Torn and Restored Card which is a real classic effect. A Good day.

2011

Well it has been a crazy year in a lot of ways. I started the year by going to Blenheim for my Dads 70th. Christchurch got its second big quake and lost two friends. Then off to Wanaka for a gig and then 3 and a half weeks in hospital then ICIS which is a rehab ward. Came home with lots of good systems in place like home help and tools to help like an electronic can opener which I use all the time. Had 6 weeks tracking the country side with Cheer-Up Christchurch. Family all well and growing. Little nieces and nephews not all so little. Enjoyed watching the World Cup final in CHCH with my sisters and their extended families. Took the time off on my sabbatical and although not answered all clown/magic issues I have some solutions in place. Great full for great, loving and supportive friends and the loving and caring people at Dunedin City Baptist Church. Time to go to bed. Get some sleep and get up tomorrow to face the world and 2012. Lots of gigs needed this year please God!! Blessings all Dave

Otago Polytechnic childcare centre

Little ones today. I had about 30 little one between 1-4 years old. To avoid any kids with a clown phobia I put my grease paint and wig on in front of them with some advice from Pop my rabbit puppet. He is called Pop because he lives in a hat and "Pops" out of it! Yeah-I know what you are saying and thinking but the kids love it.  Everyone was happy with that. Santa paid a visit and promised he even might visit me. I have so tried to be good this year. 
One little girl is the spitting image of my niece. Very alike. I would love to see them side by side. My Rachel is a bit taller I think but apart from that there is nothing different I could pick.
Was my last Christmas show this year so thats it! Prices up on January. Sorry but the economy is not getting better. Only another $10-00 dollars. $125-00. Say you read my blog and I will not charge the extra, only $115-00  for blog readers.

More Christmas shows.

Had a great time at Andersons Bay bowling club on Saturday night. Santa was a wee bit early so we had an early finish to my show but I was able to give him a hand with the lolly scramble and giving out the presents. Lots of nice wee kids again. I was pretty shattered by the time I got home and I was asleep pretty quick once I had make-up off, gear away, shoes off and costume in washing basket!
Still waiting for my web page to be finished-some on please team. Been waiting for far too long!
I have Magic Circle tonight so I put thinking cap on. The theme is Adult Audacity! Magic that adults will get. I am doing a gambling effect. The audience member will be trying to win money off me while I will be trying to hang on to it. It all depends on a coin toss. I think I can manipulate the coins toss made by the audience member. They get to choose what order they think the coin will land, heads or tails and then I make my prediction. We toss three times, the person who gets it right gets a point and then we start again. First to ten points! Will let you know how I go. Might have to get a Paypal account if I lose! I am pretty confident as there is some maths and mental manipulation in it all.

Saturday so far

Had a great time with some really nice wee kids at a Christmas party. Thanks Lucy! It was outside and really hot so it was pretty full on. Lost some of my younger audience due to many attractions/distractions! My sound system did not appear to work which was very frustrating. Had to skip The Amazing Vanishing Bandanna. I had managed to fit my entire show in a one suitcase so I was a bit disappointed that I could not use all of it. Plenty of pockets so will see how I go tonight. Being inside should help. I was also finding the wind and some uneven ground a challenge. Will update later.
On the web page issue it is still not up. Delay after delay. I ask for several things to be done but not all of it happens so I have to follow it up. This week it has to happen or I will be not impressed at all. Enjoy the weather while it lasts!

Calender options

Latest news. I have just set up my newest feature. I have been using Google Calender for a number of years to keep me up to speed with where, when and what I am doing. It talks to my mobile phone, it sends me e-mail and SMS messages about reminders and with Cloud back up I always have my diary secure but available for me to access it from anywhere. From now on I will post updates on my Calender below. As your privacy is very important to me all details about what I am doing will not be posted! If I am out out town it will state that but I will give a time away from Dunedin not a specific location. If I am in Balclutha for instance I will say 1hour 15 minutes out of Dunedin. It will show me busy, free or a pencil booking. A pencil booking may mean I am still free. I have added this option as some clients have asked to know if they can have the option to have a couple of dates in minds before they make a firm booking. Please feedback me about this option and any other copies.

Gig at Careys Bay

She sure was a beautiful day in Dunedin yesterday. 30 degrees plus. It was nice to go out to Carey's Bay just past Port Chalmers for a mentalism show. A great day for it and a great day for a gig. I performed in the garden bar which was covered so we were out of the heat and the ocean breeze was really nice. Two new illusions worked after a lot of work put into them and the regular stuff also worked well. Thanks to Michael who hired me, lined it all and gave me a hand carrying my gear in. Nice guy and if I not had to be else where I might have hung around for a cold one.
